- Botanical name: Piper Nigrum
- Family: Piperaceae
- Origin: The plant originated from India, Malaysia, Madagascar, China and Indonesia and is cultivated in East mainly in Singapore, India and Malaysia
- Characteristics: The unripe, sun-dried pepper- corns (Fruit) of vine-like shrub with strong but warm spicy smelling oil.
- Blend well with: Bergamot, Clary sage, Fennel, Frankincense, Geranium, Grapefruit, Ginger, Lavender, Juniper, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Ylang-Ylang
- Common Uses:
- Black pepper’s rubifacient and analgesic properties make it useful for muscular aches and pain, tried and aching limbs and muscle stiffness, arthritic aches and pains. It treats server bruising.
- It’s generating warmth and dispelling cold and be used to treat for the onset of infections with headache, chills and fatigue. It’s very useful for stimulating the mental faculties and energizing the body.
- Black pepper stomachic effect increases flow of saliva and stimulates appetite.
- Precautions:
(1) Too much could over-stimulate the kidneys
(2) May cause irritation to Sensitive skins
(3) Avoid in pregnancy
(4) Avoid in baby
(5) Do not recommend use for bath, it increases the temperature on the skin
